Elena Rossini is an Italian filmmaker, photographer and activist. Rossini’s work focuses on issues of social justice, media representation, and the empowerment of women and girls. Her most notable film is the critically acclaimed documentary The Illusionists, about the globalization of beauty ideals, which Rossini shot in eight countries, across four continents. The film has been featured in Vogue Italy, New York Magazine, NPR, FOX and NBC Baltimore, amongst others. Rossini often speaks at international conferences and was selected as Young Leader by the Council for the United States and Italy.

Serena Shapero

Serena Shapero is a producer, educator, social activist, and entrepreneur. She has worked side by side with Elena Rossini since 2014, producing educational tours for the critically acclaimed film,The Illusionists. Serena is currently is the Director of Development and Volunteer Engagement for Girls on the Run. Previously, she has served as the Assistant Director of Young Leadership and Digital Engagement for the Anti-Defamation League and the Social Media Strategist and Health Educator for Jewish Community Services. She holds a B.A in Theater from Goucher College and, in her spare time, sings in the nine piece original soul band, Bosley.
